Bad News.... after a review of the weather and continued lack of snow at the Scottish resorts; the committee have no option to cancel the bus for this weekend - dreadful news, but with the grass showing through and not having sufficient numbers of interest skiers and boards, it's just not financially viable.

Good news though.... we've pencilled in another bus next weekend instead (26th).  It looks like there's some last snow weather on the way; keep snow dancing, and we'll hopefully run our FIRST(!!) bus of the season.

Please get in touch with the hotline, if you want to book your place.... (07714 983 305).

Due to the old firm game this weekend, we're struggling to get a bus arranged.... BUT keep praying 'cause we are hereby pencilling in a bus for Sunday 19th!
FIRST BUS OF THE SEASON!!.... ??

Our first bus of the season is due to run on Sunday 8th January. None of the Scottish resorts are open at the moment and with no snow in the forecast over the next few days we are now playing a waiting game. Last year was very similar and the first bus we managed then was on the 17th January to Glenshee. Keep the fingers crossed for a change in the weather and keep snow dancing!

If the lack of snow continues would there be sufficient numbers interested in an indoor slide at Snow Factor on a Sunday? Please get in touch and let us know.

Cheers

The committee

Hi all,

Our AGM last Sunday was once again successful at Snow Factor with 40 people attending and 24 taking to the slope for a discounted slide. The slope was not in the best condition due to the piste bashers being broken at Snow Factor but got us some early season turns. Hopefully with the snowfall last night we get some good base building at the Scottish Ski Resorts.

We had some new faces at the AGM who took out membership for the season and I would ask all of you who are considering joining or rejoining this season to do so as soon as possible to take advantage of our discounts in our partner shops and Snowsport Scotland Insurance. You also benefit from discounted slope passes at Scottish Ski Centre's.

Here is a note of our proposed bus schedule for the season. Remember this is subject to Scottish weather etc and is provisional. Those who attended the AGM will know we booked 9 buses last year but only managed to run 4 of them due to conditions. Hopefully we will be more fortunate this season!!

Club Bus Schedule 2016/17

We also run our bus to the best Scottish ski centre of the day on the following dates:

Sunday 8th January   *** first bus of the season ***

Sunday 22nd January

Sunday 5th February

Sunday 26th February

Sunday 12th March -- Club Race Day

Sunday 26th March

Sunday 9th April

plus any other intermediate buses, based on availability, interest and (most especially) weather!

Hi all,

Once again the weather gods have conspired against us this weekend with high winds and snow forecast at the Scottish Ski centres. We have taken the decision to cancel the bus and wait for another week and hopefully the weather will settle down. On the plus side the resorts are now showing much better snow coverage. We know it is frustrating but there is no point in running a bus when there is limited uplift or none at all. As soon as things calm down we will run as many buses as we can to make up for the trips we have cancelled. Keep the fingers crossed and we will try again next weekend.

Would everyone please take note of the amendments to the event schedule. We have added a couple of buses in March and changed end of February. As always it is provisional and very much weather dependant.

Hi all,

Unfortunately we have had to cancel our bus this weekend due to a lack of snow and gale force wind and rain. Hopefully the weather will turn a bit colder for more snow next week and we will look at the event schedule from there. I'm afraid it's a case of keeping the fingers crossed and wait and see.......

We have a colder spell at the moment with snow so hopefully there is enough to get the Scottish Ski Centres operating soon. We have provisionally booked a bus for next Sunday 17th January. Keep the fingers crossed and keep snow dancing.

BUS CANCELLED

Hi everyone. Unfortunately due to a lack of snow at the Scottish Ski Centres we are having to cancel our first bus which was due to run on Sunday 3rd January. We have spoken to our coach company and we have a new provisional date for our first bus which is now Sunday 10th January. The weather is due to turn colder after Storm Frank washed most of the snow cover away yesterday. Lets hope for some snow to go with the colder temperatures!

Wishing you all a Happy New Year when it comes and hope to see you all on the first bus trip,.... whenever that may be.

Clarkston Snowsports would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and hopefully a cold, white New Year with lots of snowfall for our first bus of the year which is due to run on the 3rd January. As yet there are no Scottish ski centres open  so keep the fingers crossed and keep snowdancing. If there is insufficient snow coverage we have our good friends at Snow Factor to fall back on for an indoor club meet but let's hope we get enough snow falling between now and then.

Have a great Christmas and see you all in the New Year.
